Debra has been CEO at Ausfilm for over six years and works with the Sydney and Los Angeles based Ausfilm team to motivate international filmmakers to locate their productions to Australia.
Debra works closely with, and provides advice to, the Australian Government, its agencies and state governments screen agencies on issues concerning the industry sector that services offshore production in Australia. Debra worked tirelessly with the Ausfilm membership and Australian screen industry to successfully increase the Post, Digital & VFX Offset from 15% to 30% in 2011. She continues her efforts to encourage the Government to increase the Location Offset from 16.5% to 30% for the benefit of Australia’s economy, international filmmakers and the Australian screen industry businesses and practitioners.
Debra manages a team of eight across two continents including regular liaison with Ausfilm’s membership of 34 Government agencies and screen businesses. She also leads marketing and sales missions comprising Ausfilm member companies to the US, UK, China and the Asia Pacific and is the host with the most, moderator or speaker at Ausfilm’s international and local events and at global film and television festivals and markets.
During her tenure Debra has worked with Australia’s state screen agencies to facilitate or support the following productions to Australia: Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant; Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok; Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge; Joachim Rønning & Espen Sandberg’s Pirates of the Carribean: Deadmen Tell No Tales; Brad Peyton’s San Andreas; Bill Mechanic’s The King’s Daughter; Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken; Gale Anne Hurd’s Hunters; Nick Hurran’s Childhood’s End; and James Mangold’s The Wolverine.
